Have you Ever Bought a Dress off Social Media?

The Influence Social Media has on Businesses

Multiple businesses are using social media as a way to draw in customers but is this really the best way?

Google says- Social media affects the way consumers perceive a business brand. However, social media opened a new level of dialogue between a business and its consumers. The type of consumers who connect with a business using social media influences the way other potential consumers perceive the business brand.
Putting your brand on social media...
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
60% of Instagram users say they discover new products on the platform.
Bad publicity – social networks can offer very good advertising for businesses, but people can always spread bad things for your business.

Most social media users log into their account at least once a day, using social media is a simple and easy way for businesses to promote their brand.
Problems will be more visible – if businesses accept all kinds of comments in social media profiles, or even use them to answer questions and complaints, they will be much more exposed to the world.
Social media is a networking and communication platform. Customers appreciate knowing that when they post a comment on pages, they will receive a personalized response rather than an automatic message. Being able to acknowledge each comment shows that businesses are aware of your business's needs and aim to provide the best experience.
Exposed to trolls – although businesses give the best possible answers to users, sometimes businesses will find people who aren’t quiet but simply intended to have a good time by ‘trolling’.

Survey Results:
We surveyed Nelson College for Girls students and received 54 responses.

Here are some of the results...
Have you ever visited a business advertised on social media sites? 33 people said yes and 21 said no. However, it was different when we asked have you ever purchased a product advertised on a social media sites? 19 said yes and 35 said no. One of the other questions we asked was if you have purchased from one of those businesses how do you rate your experience? We received 32 responses for this particular question and there was a 3.44 average rating so people's experience wasn't great but wasn't terrible.

In conclusion we still think that putting your business on social media would work in the businesses's favour as it attracts a range of customers from all over the world.
