How did one Swedish teenager enable millions of students to skip school via media....

With the help of social media, over just a few years, Greta Thunberg a 16-year-old influencer, has changed the movement of global warming awareness drastically.  But how? What platforms did she use? How did she get her message across and inspire youth to leave their classes to protest?

Our aim was to find out how successful Greta Thunberg is at increasing global awareness of climate change through social media.  

Our hypothesis for this question was that we thought because of how many social media platforms she has she would be very successful at increasing global awareness through  them because she’s a teen and we could relate to that aspect. We thought she would be very successful because our generation is on social media a lot and would see her page. 

To find out how successful she is at spreading awareness we sent out a survey about her influence through her social media platforms.

From these results, we see that most people say other sources of media. So, if we were to redo the survey that’s one thing we would change as we would get way more clear results because we have no idea what other could be. But from what we know Instagram is a very big influence.

In summary, we believe that Greta Thunberg is very successful in spreading worldwide information about global warming through her social media platforms. Many people have been impacted by her wise speech and inspiring motivation to move forward in the global warming crisis. Data shown from the results indicate most people in our school have heard of Greta Thunberg.
